Top 20 Best Selling Manga of 2023 So Far: Blue Lock Beats Chainsaw Man
Blue Lock is the Best-Selling Manga Series of 2023 so far, having sold over 8 million copies within just a little over six months of this fiscal year.
While everybody had been talking about how Chainsaw Man was going to be the next big manga hit to take over the anime industry since Jujutsu Kaisen was airing, another manga series that not many expected to be as popular as the action-packed Shonen Jump series has taken over the anime and manga landscape in Japan. And it has even left Chainsaw Man behind.
Blue Lock beats Chainsaw Man to become the Best-Selling Manga of 2023 so far.
Blue Lock is the Best-Selling Manga Series of 2023 so far, having sold over 8 million copies within just a little over six months of this fiscal year. Blue Lock still occupies a healthy number of spots in Oricon’s Weekly Manga Sales Chart, with Volume 24 of the series selling over 345,000 copies within its first month of the release.
Meanwhile, Chainsaw Man has sold over 4.5 million copies this year and is the Second Best-Selling Manga Series of the Year. Volume 14 of the series sold over 450,000 copies in its debut month.
Slam Dunk is in the third spot for 2023 so far, with the release of the movie, The First Slam Dunk, which has helped the manga series in selling over 4.3 million copies already.
Jujutsu Kaisen Volume 22, which was released in March, has sold over 1.2 million copies so far, as the series is the Fourth Best-Selling Manga of the Fiscal Year of 2023, with a cumulative total of 3.84 million copies sold. Meanwhile, One Piece is also in the Top 5, as usual, and has sold over 3.62 million copies this year. Volume 105, which was released alongside Jujutsu Kaisen Volume 22, has sold over 1.7 million copies so far.
SPY x FAMILY Volume 11 sold over 1.1 million copies in its debut month and the series is now the Sixth Best-Selling Manga of 2023, selling a total of over 2.78 million copies this year so far. With the Second Season of the anime and an anime original movie scheduled to be released this year as well. Needless to say, the SPY x FAMILY hype train is not stopping anytime soon.
Tokyo Revengers released its final volume in January, and with the end of the manga, the hype for the series has slowly been drowning out. It only sold over 230,000 copies in March despite the broadcast of the Second Season of the anime during that period. The series has still sold over 2.7 million copies this year, with the final volume selling over 800,000 copies.
Meanwhile, Oshi no Ko has surpassed My Hero Academia for the year and has quickly blown up, selling over 2.45 million copies. The series has become immensely popular in Japan. And has become one of the premier anime and manga titles of the year, occupying more than a handful of places in Oricon’s Weekly Top 50 Best-Sellers List every week.
My Hero Academia has sold a total of over 2.39 million copies during this fiscal year, with Volume 38 selling over 440,000 copies in its debut run. The anime’s standout sixth season finished airing in March, with the seventh season expected to be released sometime in 2024.
Historical seinen epic, Kingdom, is also among the Top 10, having sold over 1.6 million copies.
